Supported protocols for Microsoft Exchange servers

To interface with Exchange servers, CIC uses Exchange Web Services (EWS) and Exchange (Graph). Exchange Web Services (EWS) is a SOAP-based API that uses the Web services available in Exchange to provide CIC integration to Exchange. CIC and Exchange use Exchange Web Services to communicate over HTTPS. EWS API is no longer receiving feature updates from Microsoft and is in maintenance mode. While there is no official EOL at this point, we need to look to move the next-generation API for Office365/Exchange connectivity, Graph. This will allow our Microsoft email integration to use a modern approach, and will also bring support for more granular permissions settings that customer and their security team.

Graph API allows the usage of Application Access Policies which can be used to restrict access to specific mailboxes. you can read more about this here.
