Work Items

You design and create work items in IPA Designer, and then display them to the user in Interaction Desktop or Interaction Connect. Work items gather input when a user starts a process.

Work items can include the following:

• A category.

• Description of the work item.

• A form that includes:

• Input fields for the data to gather.

• Buttons (for example, Approve and Deny) that become exit paths from the Send Work Item to User and Send Work Item to Workgroup actions.

• Other controls bound to process variables with security restrictions that the user interface enforces.

When a user starts the corresponding process in Interaction Desktop or Interaction Connect, work items appear in the My Work Items tab. Work items appear as interactions in Interaction Desktop or Interaction Connect, similar to calls, emails, and other interaction types.
