Key Generation Configuration

First, under Key generation configuration specify a location and file name for the file, in the Master Key File box. For security purposes, be sure the location of this file has restricted access.

The Master Key file must be accessible to the IC Server, which is where the IRServer process is running. Here are some examples of choosing a location for your key file:

Single IC server, local path:

Create a directory called \I3\IC\Server\RecordingKey (for example) and store your key file there. Set the directory to be accessible ONLY by the IC service account (YOURDOMAIN\icadmin as an example).

Switchover IC Pair, local path:

Create a directory called \I3\IC\Server\RecordingKey (for example) and store your key file there. Set the directory to be accessible ONLY by the IC service account (YOURDOMAIN\icadmin as an example). Set this directory to be mirrored by switchover by including it in the CustomMirrorDir server parameter. Verify it is being mirrored as well.

Switchover IC Pair, network path:

Create a directory on an external highly available file server and share it. Store your key file there. Make sure the share and the directory/file are set to be accessible ONLY by the IC service account (YOURDOMAIN\icadmin as an example).

You can manually generate a new Master Key or schedule a new key to be generated automatically on a weekly basis.

Manual Key Generation

To manually generate a new Master Key, click Generate new key. When you click OK or Apply for the first time, an initial Master Key is created and appended to the Master Key file. You can also use this button to manually create a new key and append it to the Master Key file.
