Managed IP Phones

CIC systems using SIP can reduce implementation time and ongoing maintenance work for Polycom phones, Interaction SIP Station phones, SIP Soft Phones, AudioCodes, and Genesys IP phones and associated SIP stations by managing them completely within Interaction Administrator. A provisioning subsystem on the CIC Server manages the configuration of all IP phones in Interaction Administrator. The provisioning subsystem also updates manufacturer-specific firmware and manages resetting phones as needed.

New installations

  • In a new installation, the administrator can create multiple managed IP phones and associated SIP stations by importing a CSV list containing IP phone information in the Managed IP Phones Assistant in Interaction Administrator, post-installation.

  • Alternatively, the administrator can create individual managed IP phones and associated SIP stations in the Interaction Administrator Managed IP Phones container.

  • In either of the above two methods for creating managed IP phones, an associated managed SIP station is automatically created in the Interaction Administrator Stations container. This new station will be of the type “Managed Workstation”.

Upgrade installations

  • In an upgrade installation, the administrator can create multiple managed IP phones and associated SIP stations by converting existing non-managed Polycom phones and/SIP Soft Phones (SIP stations) in the Managed IP Phones Assistant in Interaction Administrator, post-upgrade.

  • Once the managed IP phone implementation is successfully completed, you no longer need to update or create configuration files for Polycom phones.
