Server Group Certificate and Private Key
CIC Servers require a Server Group certificate and private key for secure communications with remote subsystems such as ASR servers and Web servers.
CIC Servers in multiple CIC Server environments, for example, a Switchover pair, require identical Server Group certificate and private keys to successfully connect to remote subsystems. Depending on this CIC Server's role in your CIC Server environment, an additional procedure may be necessary to fulfill this requirement.
Select one of the following certificate management options for your CIC Server environment:
This is done only on the Primary IC Server
Select this option if this is the first or only CIC Server that you plan to configure in your CIC Server environment. No further configuration is necessary. Setup Assistant will use the Server Group certificate and private key that was automatically generated during the CIC Server installation.
Note: If you plan to use a third party certificate authority, do not select this option. Select the second option instead. See "Do you plan to use a third party certificate authority?" below.
Switchover pairs
Select this option if this CIC Server is the initial active server or the first server in an upgrade installation.
Select this option if this CIC Server is the initial active server.
Note: You should have already selected the Switchover Services option in the Select IC Optional Components dialog and configured this CIC Server for Switchover. If you have not done so yet, do so now.
This is done only on the Backup Server
Select this option if this CIC Server is an additional server in one of the following multiple CIC Server scenarios:
-
This server will be in a Switchover pair. This CIC Server is the initial backup server or the second server in upgrade installation.
-
This server will be in a Switchover pair. This CIC Server is the initial backup server.
-
This server will be standalone, but there are other CIC Servers in your organization and you'd like to use the same certificate authority.
-
This server will be in a multi-site collective with other CIC Servers.
-
This server will be part of a Multi-Server Administrator (MSA) cluster.
You will perform a procedure in the Server Group Certificate and Private Key Locations dialog to securely copy the Server Group certificate and private key from an existing CIC Server to this CIC Server.
Note: If you plan to use a third party certificate authority, select this option. See "Do you plan to use a third party certificate authority?" below.
Do you plan to use a third party certificate authority?
If your company has already established its own root certificate authority and manages its own certificates, you can choose to use your own Server Group certificate and private key instead of the default CIC-generated Server Group certificate and private key. Regardless of the role of this CIC Server in your CIC Server environment, make sure to select the second option in this dialog so that you can securely copy your own Server Group certificate and private key files to this CIC Server.
