Copying and Pasting a State

You can copy a state to the Windows Clipboard and paste it into the same process or into a different process. When you paste the process, IPA Designer adds its name to the States container of the process list.

If you post a copied state into the same process, IPA Designer adds a number (starting with "1") at the end of the state name to indicate that it is a copy of the original state of the same name.

To copy and paste a state:

  1. In the process list, right-click the state to copy, then click Copy.

IPA Designer copies the state to the Windows Clipboard.

  2. Right-click the process into which you want to paste the state, then click Paste.

IPA Designer pastes the state into the process and adds its name to the States container of the process list. If you paste the state into the same process as the original, IPA Designer adds a number at the end of the name to distinguish it from the original state.

Note: In IC 4.0 Service Update 1 (SU1) and later versions, IPA Designer automatically includes any referenced items (such as variables) when you copy and paste. It also updates the references to the pasted location.
