Switchover Improvements

The switchover process in SU5 is optimized to perform better when the primary and the backup server connect across a WAN connection. With the Switchover Over WAN setting enabled, the initial synchronization process behaves differently. Instead of sending data between the primary and backup servers in small chunks, the process now sends data to the backup server in larger portions, resulting in overall smaller latency.

There are still limitations in the functionality that is supported in this WAN deployment model. For more information about this deployment model and the limitations, see the IC Automated Switchover System Technical Reference in the CIC Documentation Library.

Switchover Upgrade State in SU5 now works when the servers have different ESs applied. Switchover detects a difference in the ES level on both servers and starts in Upgrade State, which means that there is limited replication. For more information about Upgrade State and the data replication in that state, see the IC Automated Switchover System Technical Reference in the CIC Documentation Library.

Scalability Improvements to Resiliency of Email Messages during Switchover

SU5 includes switchover resiliency improvements for email interactions. This functionality improves the user experience related to switchover events. Users are informed of potential delays following a switchover event, and they see a progress bar to indicate the time remaining before they can resume work on email interactions.

The amount of time required for this process is related to the latency to the email platform and the number of emails to recover after the switch.
