PureConnect Release Notes
Social Media Processor Deployed as a Service
Updated March 27, 2019
Social Media Processor is a hybrid cloud service which enables PureConnect's social media features.
The initial Social Media Processor conditional release with PureConnect 2018 R4 and R5 required a locally installed instance of Red Hat Minishift along with the local installation of the Social Media feature containers. Starting in February 2019, the PureConnect Social Media Processor features are hosted in the Genesys Cloud system and accessible for both PureConnect Cloud and PureConnect on-premises sites. All customers need to purchase the Social Media licenses prior to provisioning and deployment. PureConnect on-premises customers must agree to Genesys Cloud Terms & Conditions. The previous "conditional release" containers are no longer available for download and current and prospective customers will use the Social Media Processor microservices hosted in the Genesys Cloud. This announcement supersedes the earlier information in 2018 R5. This hosted Genesys Cloud service change greatly simplifies the deployment and maintenance of social media features in PureConnect.
The hosted Social Media Processor microservice supports social media features in PureConnect 2018 R4, R5 and subsequent releases. At this time, PureConnect Social Media is not a PCI compliant feature and PCI data (for example, credit card numbers) should not be passed through this microservice.
The social media licensing and configuration process is the same as before. Once the necessary licenses have been purchased, work with sales, your account manager, or Customer Care to request and retrieve Social Media Processor deployment information and credentials to be used in PureConnect Social Media configuration.
