About CIC database configuration
Configuring a database for use by CIC involves two parts: creating or upgrading the database, and configuring CIC to use the database.
Configure the database
-
Create database user accounts used by CIC.
-
Create or upgrade database tables for Reporting (add-on license for Interaction Supervisor required), CIC Public and Private Contacts, Speed Dial lists, Interaction Tracker (add-on license required), and/or Interaction Recorder (add-on license required), and Interaction Optimizer (add-on license required).
Configure CIC for the database
-
Configure PMQ logging.
-
Create the necessary ODBC data sources in the Control Panel.
-
Populate various configuration settings in Interaction Administrator (CIC Data Sources, Report Logs, Server Parameters, etc.)
Important: If you have upgraded the database separately as part an upgrade installation (by manually running the SQL scripts located on the IC product disc or by running the standalone IC Database Configuration install also located on the IC product disc), you must still run through the database configuration dialogs again in Setup Assistant in order to configure the IC Server to use the 3.0 database.
I want to skip this step and configure the database later
You can choose to configure the database at a later time, or to make changes to an existing database by re-running IC Setup Assistant.
Microsoft SQL Server
Select this option if your site has a SQL Server.
For large implementations, we recommend that you use a dedicated SQL Server computer for CIC database storage.
For more information about SQL Server requirements, see the Database chapter in the Installation and Configuration Guide.
Oracle Database
Select this option if your site has an Oracle server.
For large implementations, we recommend that you use a dedicated Oracle server computer for CIC database storage.
For more information about Oracle requirements, see the Database chapter in the Installation and Configuration Guide.
Note: The Oracle client must be installed on the CIC Server. If IC Setup Assistant detects that is not present, you cannot select the Oracle option. You must exit IC Setup Assistant, install the Oracle client, and restart IC Setup Assistant.
IC Survey Location: This information may be included in the IC Survey file. If so, the selection/value will appear in this dialog. You can review the contents of the IC Survey file by selecting View Survey in the Load IC Survey File dialog or opening it in a Pre-Install survey in the IC Survey system.
