Interaction Process Automation (IPA)

The following sections describe enhancements to Interaction Process Automation.

Dynamic Web Service URLs

IPA now supports the ability to dynamically set the URL for a web service. During the design of the process, the user can override the currently specified web service URL and use a process variable or calculation instead. This feature is useful where the web service URL can only be determined when the process is running.

Publish Process Security Right

This new security right allows administrators to grant or revoke a user’s right to publish a process and to deactivate or delete a published process. This security right is configurable in the Interaction Process Automation container in Interaction Administrator. This feature is useful in situations where a user only needs to view or edit a process.

Note: During the SU4 upgrade process, all users are given the right to publish a process.  The right is granted by default so that users who could publish processes prior to the upgrade can still do so after the upgrade. Administrators can then remove the right to publish a process, as required.

IPA - Data Sources Security

This new access control allows administrators to select which Interaction Center data sources a user can view and use in the IPA Process Designer. This access control is configurable in the IC Data Sources container in Interaction Administrator. If a user attempts to open an existing process that uses an IC data source to which they don’t have rights to view, a notification indicates to them that they don’t have the rights.  This feature is useful in situations when a customer has a data source that is required for Interaction Center, but they do not want IPA processes to use that data source.

Interaction Process Automation - Data Source Security

Note: During the SU4 upgrade process, all users are given the right to view all CIC data sources. This right is granted by default to ensure that users who had access to CIC data sources prior to the upgrade can still access them following the upgrade.  An administrator can then remove the rights to all or specified data sources as required.
