Working with IC Surveys

About the IC Survey System

The IC Survey system is an html-based application that creates a file containing installation and configuration information needed for a new CIC installation.

Within the IC Survey system, you fill out a Pre-Install survey to compile the installation and configuration information needed for the customer site. This should be accomplished preferably before beginning the installation, or at least before running IC Setup Assistant. The results of the Pre-Install survey are stored in an IC Survey file on the CIC Server.

When you run the IC Setup Assistant, it will load and read the IC Survey file, and pre-fill the dialogs with the appropriate configuration information.

The benefit of the survey system is to save installers from scrambling when arriving on-site for customer-specific configuration information. A complete survey enables installers to discover on-site issues in advance of the actual installation. This makes for a simplified installation process for all involved.

How do I fill out a Pre-Install survey?

Use the IC Survey system to create a Pre-Install survey and generate the IC Survey file.

Launch the IC Survey system by opening the following file on the CIC Server in Microsoft Internet Explorer:

\I3\IC\Manifest\ICSurvey.html

For more information, see the IC Survey system online help system.

What if an IC Survey file is incomplete?

If an IC Survey file was created but is incomplete, IC Setup Assistant fills in the default Setup Assistant values. So, even if something isn't in the IC Survey file, you'll be able to enter the information when you run the IC Setup Assistant.

What if I do not have an IC Survey file?

If there is no IC Survey file prior to running Setup Assistant, IC Setup Assistant will create an empty one and save your configuration settings as you walk through the dialogs.

For more information, see the Load IC Survey File dialog help.
