Introduction to Tokenizer Configurator

The Tokenizer Configurator configures the Tokenizer service so that it functions properly with tokenization systems such as Payment Vendor Gateway (PVG) and Service Request Gateway (SRG). Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards prohibit storing sensitive data such as credit card numbers in databases. Tokenization is the process of replacing sensitive data with a token that maps to the sensitive data through a tokenization system. PVG tokenizes financial information such as credit and debit card data, while SRG tokenizes credit report data.

Install the Tokenizer service on a Latitude server only. For PCI compliance reasons, your organization may not allow you to install the service on the same server as the Tokenizer database. Ensure that the computer that runs the Tokenizer service is physically secure. The Tokenizer service does not need to be a member of the domain (although it can be). The Tokenizer service also only requires one open TCP network port for Payment Vendor Gateway or Service Request Gateway to be able to use it.
