Configure Stations

When you first view this dialog, typically there are no stations listed in the Configure Stations matrix.

You have a number of options for creating stations:

  • You can create stations now in IC Setup Assistant with Add Stations Assistant. If you want to create stations now, click Configure Stations to open the Add Stations Assistant.

  • You can create stations post-installation in the Interaction Administrator Stations container, either individually or using Add Stations Assistant. If you want to create stations in Interaction Administrator, click Next to proceed with Setup Assistant.

Note: (SIP only) If you plan to implement managed IP phones, do not use Add Stations Assistant. Instead, you will create managed IP phones and associated SIP stations in the Interaction Administrator Managed IP Phones container, either individually, or using Managed IP Phones Assistant.

Add Stations Assistant

Add Stations Assistant is a wizard that guides you through the creation of multiple stations for non-managed IP phones and stand-alone fax machines. Non-managed IP phones include:

  • Analog stations connected via SIP FXS gateways

  • SIP handsets from vendors that are not included in PureConnect's managed IP phone implementation

You can create “non-managed” SIP stations and stand-alone fax stations by importing a CSV list containing SIP station information in Add Stations Assistant as part of a new CIC installation in IC Setup Assistant, or post-installation in the Interaction Administrator Stations container.

Note: If you plan to implement managed IP phones, do not use Add Stations Assistant. Instead, you will create managed IP phones and associated SIP stations in the Interaction Administrator Managed IP Phones container, either individually, or using Managed IP Phones Assistant.

Add Stations Assistant is a wizard that guides you through the creation of multiple stations.

It asks you to specify the kind of stations to create from the following station types: workstations, stand-alone phone, or stand-alone fax machine. You can also create fax devices attached to the system bus, enabling CIC to send and receive faxes without stand-alone fax machines.

You also specify how the stations will be connected to the CIC Server:

  • Stations connected to a station board. Add Stations Assistant uses Dialogic boards/resources found through device detection to auto-create stations attached to Dialogic station boards.

  • Stations connected by a channel bank. Add Stations Assistant uses the Aculab boards/resources found through device detection to auto-create stations connected to channel banks.  If this option is selected, the appropriate interfaces must be configured first. The Add Stations Assistant will launch the Add Interfaces and Digital Lines Assistant so that interfaces can be configured.

  • Stations connected by IP. If your CIC license includes the SIP or Dialogic HMP feature, you can create “non-managed” SIP stations by importing a CSV list containing SIP station information in Add Stations Assistant. Examples of "non-managed" SIP stations are IP phones other than Polycom such as Astra or Cisco (although Polycom phones can be non-managed if preferred), stand-alone fax machines, and remote stations.  Note: If you plan to implement managed IP phones, you will create managed IP phones and associated SIP stations in the Interaction Administrator Managed IP Phones container post-installation.

Add Stations Assistant walks you through the following additional configuration steps:

  • Access control - If you created a dial plan in IC Setup Assistant, select the dial plan classifications for the new stations. Station Access Control enables you to specify the outbound dialing privileges (if any) for the new stations.

  • Station license - We recommend that you assign Basic Station licenses to the stations you are configuring if you are running Add Stations Assistant in IC Setup Assistant.

When Add Stations Assistant completes, the Configure Stations matrix is populated with the stations you created.

After IC Setup Assistant completes, you can create and modify stations in Interaction Administrator, individually or using Add Stations Assistant.  For more information, see Interaction Administrator help.

Configure Trunk Interfaces and Analog and Digital Lines

As part of Post-Setup Assistant configuration, configure trunk interfaces and analog and digital lines in Interaction Administrator, using wizards similar to the Add Stations Assistant. For more information, see Interaction Administrator online help.
